Starbucks Near North Korea Becomes a Popular Spot, Attracting 120,000 Visitors

A Starbucks located just 1.4 kilometers from North Korea, situated at the border of North and South Korea, has become a new travel hotspot since its opening on November 29, 2024. In under seven months, it has attracted over 123,000 visitors, with foreign tourists increasing 2.5 times compared to last year.

This location, nicknamed 'North Korea View Starbucks', is the only Starbucks in the world where customers can enjoy coffee while overlooking North Korean territory. From the store, visitors can clearly see the scenic Kaepung County in North Korea, along with the confluence of the Han River and Imjingang River.

Statistics show that the store averages over 600 visitors daily and more than 1,000 on weekends, with a notably high proportion of family customers. Sales of food items here are approximately 30% higher than at other stores.

Although the opening was marked by the launch of balloons from North Korea raising safety concerns, local officials believe that the presence of Starbucks can promote peace and understanding, aiming to attract even more visitors with this iconic brand.

This Starbucks is not just a consumer destination, but has become a place where people seek unique experiences.
