Abassi, who has been named the MVP of the Taiwanese T1 Basketball League for two consecutive years, chose to challenge himself in Japan's B League last June, wearing the uniform of Akita Northern Happinets. Liu Zhiwei indicated that the contract includes options for the last two years, with an annual salary exceeding eight figures, approaching the wage levels of top foreign players in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
