Abassi Returns to New Taipei CTBC DEA with a 3+2 Contract

27-year-old Taiwanese player Abassi officially returns to the Taiwan Professional Basketball League (TPBL) New Taipei CTBC DEA on the 16th, showcasing the team's signature gesture at a press conference. General Manager Liu Zhiwei revealed that the two parties have signed a "3+2" contract, with an annual salary close to that of top overseas players in the CBA.
Abassi, who has been named the MVP of the Taiwanese T1 Basketball League for two consecutive years, chose to challenge himself in Japan's B League last June, wearing the uniform of Akita Northern Happinets. After a season of development, he has opted to return to the DEA, hoping to bring back his overseas experience to help the team return to playoff contention.
Liu Zhiwei indicated that the contract includes options for the last two years, with an annual salary exceeding eight figures, approaching the wage levels of top foreign players in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). It is understood that this is currently the highest salary for domestic players in Taiwanese basketball. Liu further stated that they remain open to Abassi's future overseas challenges, saying, "As long as it is beneficial for him and he has the willingness, we will assist in evaluating the competitiveness and regulations of those leagues; these matters are open for discussion."
