Deputy Secretary-General He Chenghui: Analysis of China's Penetration Activities and Strategic Response

Deputy Secretary-General He Chenghui of the Taiwan Security Association has conducted in-depth research on China's cognitive operations. He points out that due to frequent cross-strait interactions, China’s infiltration in Taiwan is extremely serious. Behind various exchanges, Chinese party and government agencies are operating, making it crucial for Taiwanese society to remain vigilant.
He emphasizes that China seeks to recruit Taiwanese youth by creating so-called "economic benefits" or job opportunities, aiming to reshape their perceptions of China, thereby creating favorable local collaborators for promoting Beijing's claims concerning Taiwan in the future.
Additionally, he notes that Taiwanese democratic society has yet to establish defenses against Chinese social media, particularly with young people actively engaged with platforms like TikTok and Xiaohongshu, which can change their views on China. Over time, this could make Taiwanese society more susceptible to infiltration by the Chinese Communist Party. He suggests that relevant authorities strengthen protections and implement legislative measures.
