New Taipei City Partners with Japan's Uozu City for Overseas Classroom Exchange Program

The New Taipei City Education Bureau recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uozu City Board of Education in Japan, officially launching the "Overseas Classroom Exchange Program for Primary and Secondary Schools." This program will unfold in three phases: online exchanges, field visits, and homestays, integrating various aspects including education, culture, tourism, and sports to create a platform for bilateral exchanges and nurture a new generation of talent with global competence.

The collaboration is facilitated by Associate Professor Yoshihiko Shimizu from Toyama Prefectural University. Starting from the 113th academic year, Banqiao Junior High School will engage in online exchanges with Uozu's East Junior High School, and plans to extend interactions to Shalun Elementary School and Seiryu Elementary School.

Students from Banqiao Junior High shared local Taiwanese delicacies such as bubble tea and pineapple cakes during previous exchanges. The Education Director expressed hope that these activities would enhance students' understanding of cross-cultural communication and their English skills.
