Tokyo Hit by Line-shaped Rain Band, Exceeding 100mm of Rain Leads to Flooding

Japan's Kanto region is facing significant rainfall as a line-shaped rain band influenced by the rainy season passes through, with areas like Tokyo and Saitama experiencing sudden downpours exceeding 100mm.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, 31 alerts for record rainfall were issued in just one night, disrupting the commute for many. Passengers waiting at stations discovered that trains and shinkansen services were temporarily halted due to the heavy rain.
In places like Gunma Prefecture, underground passages were obstructed by flooding, and deep water accumulation on roads was reported. Fortunately, no major accidents have been recorded. Experts indicate that this heavy rainfall has brought some respite from the prolonged heatwave, while the Kagoshima region continues to deal with ongoing seismic activity.
