Zhang Zhihui Faces Allegations of Unreported U.S. Property; Shuanghe Recall Team Calls for Public Explanation

According to reports, allegations have surfaced against Kuomintang legislator Zhang Zhihui concerning unreported property in the United States. His wife, Peng Han, reportedly holds real estate in California that was not disclosed. Today, the Shuanghe Recall Team issued a press release urging Zhang Zhihui to publicly explain the situation, stating that while owning overseas assets is not problematic, 'lying and illegal actions are unforgivable misconduct.'
Zhang is not the first to face controversy related to U.S. property; KMT legislator Li Yanshi was involved in a similar case in February 2024 for alleged discrepancies in property declarations. Reports indicate that Peng Han purchased a standalone house in California in June 2018 using a full payment method, yet it has not been disclosed in the 'Public Candidate Property Declaration Form' or the 'Public Official Property Declaration Form,' raising suspicions of long-term asset concealment.
Furthermore, data from the 'Integrity Magazine' indicates that Zhang Zhihui's property declaration on March 16, 2024, reported no overseas assets, including the California property. However, Zhang's office responded that 'all declarations have been completed.' The Shuanghe Recall Team pointed out that the Zhang family is a construction family with assets worth hundreds of millions, stating, 'it is not unusual to own property overseas unless there are nationality issues.' However, as a current legislator, Zhang has chosen to handle his U.S. property through concealment and unlawful reporting, which undermines voters' trust in public officials.
Presenting a large 'Shame' banner, the recall team emphasized that legislators should be role models for the people, asserting that if Zhang was careless in his reporting, it reflects a lack of administrative capability; if he intentionally concealed information, he has violated the law and is unqualified to serve as a representative of the public.
