U.S. Tariff Negotiations Raise Concerns as Cheng Li-Chun Returns to Taiwan

Cheng Li-Chun, Taiwan's Vice Premier, returned to Taiwan on the morning of the 12th, concluding negotiations with the U.S. President Trump announced on the 10th plans to impose a 15% or 20% tariff on most trading partners. The Executive Yuan stated they will provide updates on negotiations as new information becomes available.
It is understood that Cheng's delegation met with the U.S. team in Washington on the 8th, discussing key economic issues and reaching consensus. However, officials emphasize discussions on tariffs and trade matters continue.
Regarding future negotiations, Executive Yuan spokesperson Lee Hui-Chih noted the team will maintain a focus on national and industrial interests while cautiously proceeding, hoping for further discussions with the U.S.
