Brazilian Muay Thai Coach Survives 5-Minute Battle Against Pit Bulls

Ernesto Chaves, a Brazilian Muay Thai coach, fought off two attacking pit bulls for nearly five minutes during a street run, sustaining injuries in the process. He recalls thinking he would die as he defended against the dogs, which resulted in leg injuries and a broken finger.

The incident occurred in Ponta Porã, located in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Initially, Chaves thought the dogs were simply playful, but soon realized their aggression when one bit into his leg. Despite his training, bystanders were too fearful to step in and help.

After successfully subduing the dogs, help finally arrived, and he was taken to the hospital. He later shared the incident on social media, highlighting public safety concerns, noting the close proximity of a kindergarten to the attack site.

Chaves expressed strong dissatisfaction with the pit bull owner's negligence, which he believes has adversely affected his work as a martial arts instructor. The dog's owner may face legal consequences, potentially up to twelve years in prison.
