95-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in Japan After 10 Years, Son Arrested for Body Concealment

A 95-year-old woman was recently discovered in a state of decomposition in her home in Kobe, Japan. Following police investigations, her 60-year-old son was arrested for abandoning a body. He admitted that his mother passed away in the bathroom 10 years ago and claimed that he suffers from social anxiety disorder, which prevented him from seeking help or reporting her death.
According to reports from MBS NEWS, in May of this year, local officials found the son, who had difficulty walking due to a broken bone, and took him to the hospital for treatment. When questioned about his family situation, he avoided discussing his mother, raising suspicions among the staff. Police subsequently investigated his residence and discovered the home was filled with garbage and an unidentified decomposed body in the bathroom. DNA tests later confirmed the identity of the deceased as his mother, whose cause of death remains under investigation and preliminary checks showed no signs of external injury. The son has been arrested on charges of abandoning a body, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and the concealment of her remains.
