The Beauty of Akita: Host Xiaohao Explores White Lavender, Strawberries, and Geothermal Wonders

YouTuber host Xiaohao embarked on a four-day, three-night journey through Akita, delving into the natural secrets of Japan's Tohoku region and experiencing its landscapes and culture. He led viewers to various notable attractions, including the Kanpuzan Observation Deck in Oga City, lavender fields in Misato Town, the Komachino Strawberry Farm, and the geothermal marvel of Koyasu Gorge's Big Hot Spring.

The Kanpuzan Observation Deck is located on the Oga Peninsula and features a rotating design that allows visitors to enjoy 360-degree views of the stunning natural scenery. A travel writer from the Edo period once described this place as “one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.” However, access is limited for those with mobility issues as it only has a spiral staircase.

Misato Town is known for its abundant spring water resources, and its lavender field spans two hectares with about 20,000 plants. The most notable bloom is the native white lavender known as “Misato Yukika,” which only blossoms in early June, providing a seasonal beauty unique to the Tohoku region.

The strawberry season is another highlight of the area. Xiaohao visited the Komachino Strawberry Farm to experience the joy of picking strawberries. The farm features three major strawberry varieties, each with its flavor profile, with the Kouno strawberry being particularly recommended for its sweetness and rich aroma. Picking fees start at 2,200 yen per adult for half an hour, and the farm also offers photography services, becoming a new favorite among young travelers.

The Koyasu Gorge's Big Hot Spring is renowned as a geothermal wonder. To reach it, visitors must walk about 15 minutes into the canyon, where they can see white steam continuously rising from the stream, leading to a dramatic sight of geothermal hot springs erupting from cracks at a temperature of up to 98 degrees Celsius.

Xiaohao stated that this trip to Akita not only allowed him to experience the shock and healing power of nature but also gave him a deep appreciation for the local culture and the charm of its slow-paced lifestyle. He suggests that travelers who lack driving skills consider joining a tour to save on transportation time.
