Netherlands to Deploy F-35s to Poland to Ensure NATO's Eastern Flank Security

According to reports, following Norway's announcement of deploying F-35 fighter jets to Poland, the Dutch Ministry of Defense stated on the 7th that they will send Dutch F-35s to Poland from September 1 to December 1 at the request of NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). This action is intended to strengthen the stability of NATO's eastern flank and ensure the safety of the logistics supply line at the Polish base, which is crucial for aiding Ukraine.
Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren remarked that deploying advanced fighter jets to Poland contributes significantly to the defense of NATO territory and European security, while ensuring that weapons and equipment assisting Ukraine can safely reach the front lines, facilitating smooth ground supply missions for Ukraine. She noted that recently, Dutch F-35s deployed in Estonia demonstrated exceptional air defense capabilities by effectively keeping Russian threats at bay.
According to the Dutch Ministry of Defense's press release, the Dutch F-35 fleet will operate under the command of NATO's Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe during the deployment and will cooperate with Norway's F-35 squadron to execute Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) missions, remaining on standby around the clock to respond to threats attempting to invade NATO airspace.
Furthermore, on the same day, Minister Ollongren signed a cooperation agreement with her Polish counterpart, Mariusz Błaszczak, in Warsaw to enhance cooperation in the field of security between the two nations. The Netherlands also agreed to participate in NATO's Iron Defender exercise in response to Russia's Zapad 25 joint exercise, where countries will exchange combat techniques and focus on interoperability of advanced equipment like F-35s, Apache helicopters, and Patriot air defense systems.
As European nations actively strengthen support for Ukraine, U.S. President Trump indicated on the 7th plans to provide additional weaponry to Ukraine, reversing his previous stance of delaying certain military supplies.
