First Foreign Best Actor at Taipei Film Awards: Wanlop Rungkumjad

Wanlop Rungkumjad has made history as the first foreign Best Actor at the Taipei Film Awards held on May 5 at Chungshan Hall. He won the award for his role in the film White White Dog, surpassing nominees Chen Bo-Lin, Huang Kuan-Chih, Lan Wei-Hua, and Pan Kang-Ta.
During his acceptance speech, Wanlop expressed disbelief, saying, "Thank you for making the world a better place." He tearfully thanked his team and emphasized the importance of persistence in the acting profession.
Wanlop revealed that he once considered giving up acting but found rejuvenation through cinema in Taiwan. He intends to continue acting in Taiwan and actively seek opportunities, regardless of formal invitations.
He also invited fellow nominees to sign his award, expressing a particular desire for Chen Bo-Lin's autograph. An amusing moment occurred when he forgot he had a translator during his speech, which drew laughter from the audience.
